Healthy Life, Healthy Choices (MHM 2026)
The 'Period Poverty' experienced by girls leads to significant educational gaps. When menstruation 'surprises' a girl at school without a pad or a private place to change, she often chooses to go home, missing 3-5 days of school every month. This cumulative loss of instructional time directly impacts academic performance and increases the risk of school dropout. This project aims to empower 100 young girls with knowledge on safe practices of Menstrual Hygiene and Menstrual Health Management (MHM) in Douala and Bamenda area, to provide sanitary kits for them. And then register them to continuously collect pads for the next 6months.
• To distribute high-quality sanitary pads to 100 girls in the Littoral (Douala) and North west region of Bamenda
• To provide comprehensive education on Safe Menstrual Hygiene Management practices.
• Register 100 girls to receive pad for 6months
• One month online campaign debunking menstruation myths and unsafe menstrual hygiene and sexual reproductive health practices amongst young girls
But we didn't just stop at these insightful conversations, we also directly supported them by distributing menstrual hygiene kits consisting of bucket, soap, detergents, pants and pad. These young girls went home with smiles on their faces.
